Middle East respiratory syndrome-coronavirus

Although things have gone slightly quiet on the H7N9 front, another threat has been going the rounds so I thought I would add it to the blog.

This is the snappily titled MERS-CoV (Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus).

It seems to have been first discovered in Saudi Arabia and has been found in one or two other places including France, although all the cases appear to have a base starting point in the Middle East.

This is not flu, but more similar to the SARS outbreak of some years ago.

Number are again very small and at this stage there are no extra actions being advised by the WHO.
